Sichuan Pepper

(Hua Jiao)



Hua Jiao, also known as Sichuan pepper or Chinese prickly ash, is a widely used herb and spice in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Chinese cuisine.




  • Warms the Middle Jiao and Dispels Cold:

    • Hua Jiao is effective in warming the middle burner (Spleen and Stomach) and dispelling internal cold. It is used to treat conditions such as abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea due to cold in the middle Jiao.
  • Alleviates Pain:

    • It can help relieve pain caused by cold, including abdominal pain and hernia pain.
  • Kills Parasites:

    • Hua Jiao is known for its ability to expel parasites, especially roundworms, and alleviate associated symptoms like abdominal pain and vomiting.
  • Promotes Qi Circulation:

    • It aids in promoting the circulation of Qi, which can help with digestive issues and improve appetite.
